The restoration of this table involved meticulous attention to its structure and surface. The process started with dismantling the table's feet to repair underlying issues, including fixing a wood fracture. Structural support was enhanced with dowels before reattaching and re-gluing the veneer, adding replacement pieces where needed.
For the tabletop, veneer sections that had lifted were glued, and areas missing veneer were filled in with new veneer. Gaps and imperfections were filled with reversible resin, ensuring future restorations could be carried out if necessary. Chromatic retouching was then applied to blend the repairs with the original veneer seamlessly. The entire piece was finished with a varnish for protection and a waxing treatment for a smooth, polished appearance, revitalising the table while maintaining its historic essence.
