Services
I am well adept at restoring furniture and furnishing art from a range of different styles and periods from the 16th to the 20th century. Each piece of furniture is unique, and in order to provide the best treatment, it is important to understand its history to know what the best restoration technique to employ should be. Taking this approach throughout my career has allowed me to preserve the authenticity of every piece of furniture I have worked on. I also take time to manufacture natural products, hot glues (based on nerves and bones), fish glues, natural pigments, waxes, and naturally dried wood to use in my restoration work. I am firmly against the use of ready made products.
Restoration Conservation
Restoration of furniture and furnishing art from all periods, respecting their history and conservation ethos - reversibility, traceability, preventive conservation
Bronzes cleaning and maintenance
Gilded and furniture bronzes get oxidised over time, as well as dirty by the use of wrong cleaning products. It is my mission to bring back their shine, by using non damaging cleaning products, varnish, and coloured waxes.
Silver care and polish
I offer a range of silver care and polish service for those looking for the restoration of metals.
French polish
The traditional French polish involves applying a numerous thin layers of shellac melted in denatured alcohol with a rubbing pad. It creates an high gloss surface with reflective properties.
